Supervisor Dr. Barbara A. Smith
Barbara A. Smith was born and reared in Fort Valley, Ga. She received the Lord at an early age. At the age of 14, she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. While in revival with Bishop Thomas A. Ward in 1978, fasting and praying, she experienced a visitation from the Lord. A bright light overshadowed her while lying in her bed and an audible voice like she’d never heard before, spoke to her and said, “Fear not and be not afraid, for I am the Lord your GOD, be ye holy for I am holy.” She was filled with the Holy Ghost and her life has never been the same. As a young Christian, she served faithfully under the pastoral ship of the late Superintendent Oscar Felton, where the prelate was Bishop J. Howard Dell and the State Supervisor, Mother Delores Bing. She served faithfully in many areas of her local church as a choir member, devotional leader, hospitality aide, Sunday school teacher and secretary, youth worker, women’s department president, and clean-up committee member. She received her Missionary License under Bishop Mark Walden and State Supervisor, Mother Bertha Fitts. She works diligently on the battlefield for the Lord. She has served devotedly alongside her husband in the Outreach Ministry, going into nursing homes, prison ministry, tent ministry, open-air ministry, door-to-door witnessing, home missions, and providing food service to the church and the community.
Barbara is an enthusiastic advocate for education; she graduated with honors from Peach County High School and received a Nursing Degree from Middle Georgia Technical Institute. She worked 13 years as a licensed nurse and was a member of the Nurses Association of Georgia. She has always had a passion for serving and helping others. She later pursued a career in education where she excelled phenomenally. She graduated Cum Laude, receiving a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from Fort Valley State University. She later matriculated to pursue her calling in education by receiving a Specialist Degree with honors from Troy State University. She received her Doctorate of Education with honors from Walden University. Dr. B. Smith holds three Academic Endorsements: Teacher Support and Coaching Specialists, ESOL Endorsement, and Gifted Endorsement.
